Dattatraya Khandeshe from Manchar, Pune, increased his sugarcane yield per acre to over 100 tonnes with the help of Kisaanyard, a Sugarcane Growth Kit, and modern farming methods. He improved his farm's productivity by implementing better soil management, irrigation, and sugarcane fertilizer schedule while following expert advice. His achievement serves as an inspiration, demonstrating how farmers can significantly enhance their yield and income with the right resources. Today, we will explore how Mr. Dattatraya Khandeshe, from Ambegaon in the Pune district of Maharashtra, achieved over 100 tons of high-yield sugarcane farming per acre.

The Journey of Success
Organic Manure: The Key to Enhancing Soil Fertility
Dattatraya Khandeshe ploughed his field one or two times to soften the soil in preparation for growing sugarcane. He then added 3 to 4 litres of composting bacteria and 5 to 6 tons of Farm Yard Manure to the soil.

When it was prepared, he dispersed it uniformly around the field. He then used a rotavator to completely plough the earth and made ridges, leaving 110 to 120 cm space between each ridge.
Selecting CO 86032 Variety for High Yield
The right variety selection is crucial for high-yield sugarcane farming. Dattatraya Khandeshe chose the CO 86032 sugarcane variety because of its high production potential, reaching up to 100 tons per acre. The 0.31-hectare sugarcane plot in Survey No. 639 was planted, and work began on June 4. At an average of 104 MT per acre, the field yielded 80.312 MT of sugarcane by this crushing season.
Seed Treatment and planting
For sugarcane planting, cuttings or saplings are treated by soaking them for 10 minutes in a solution of 500 ml Chlorpyrifos 20% EC, 250 grams of Ridomil Gold, and 1 kg of 13:00:45 fertilizer mixed in 100 litres of water. This ensures good germination, pest control, and disease management. Planting is done between June and July, with row spacing of 120 cm and plant spacing of 30–45 cm. Proper spacing promotes healthy growth by reducing competition for resources.
Fertilizer Schedule and Application
First Stage (At the time of Planting) - Applied 30 to 35 kg of Urea, 100 kg of Single Super Phosphate (SSP), 50 kg of DAP, and 60 kg of Muriate of Potash (MOP).
Second Stage (45 days after planting) - Applied 140 kg of urea and add Micronutrients like Zinc Sulphate (25 kg) and Borax (10 kg).
Third Stage (90 days after planting) -Applied 50 kg of urea and 8 kg of Sulphur.
Fourth Stage (120 days after planting) - Before earthing up, apply 100 kg of Urea, 50 kg of DAP, 50 kg of 12:32:16, and 50 kg of Muriate of Potash.
Using the best fertilizers for sugarcane like Urea, SSP, DAP, MOP, and 12:32:16 Fertilizer ensures healthy growth, enhanced sugar content, and increased yield. Proper application of these fertilizers strengthens the plants' immunity, making them resistant to pests and diseases while optimizing their nutrient uptake.

Weed Management:
Weeds compete with sugarcane for nutrients and water, affecting its growth. To control this, Khandeshe applied 1400 ml of Syngenta Caloris Extra per acre on the 18th day after planting. This effectively controlled both narrow and broad-leaf weeds.
Pest and Disease Control:
To prevent white grub and early shoot borer, Khandeshe mixed neem cake with Bayer's Regent Ultra during the first fertilizer application. This combination boosted the sugarcane's immunity, reducing susceptibility to other pests and diseases.
The Role of Kisaanyard Store
A key part of Dattatraya Khandeshe success is the Kisaanyard Store, which helped by providing all the essential agricultural supplies. They supplied everything from fertilizers and pesticides to helpful advice.
